We've Samhain, in association with the IFI and GAZE LGBTQ+ Film Festival, presents the wondrous stop-motion comedy horror ParaNorman. The film tells the story of Norman, an 11 year-old boy who is ridiculed by his peers for being different – he can talk to the dead. Along with his also bullied best friend, he takes on ghosts, zombies (and grown-ups!), to save his town from a century-old curse. The first mainstream animated film to feature a gay character, directors Chris and Sam Fell felt that they had to practice what they were preaching in the film’s storyline – never judge others on who they are or their appearance. A trailblazer in family film, ParaNorman went on to be nominated for an Academy Award and Bafta Award for its merits.
